the joy list

i was laid out on the couch under a blanket feeling general overwhelmed and generally uninspired and generally unqualified and generally irritable and generally bored when ryan texted: "i can see that morale is low." he suggested he watch the kids and i get out for a little while. to which i replied, "there is nowhere to go."

this is true, of course. it's a quarantine.

but nothing is impossible. so i drove through the starbucks drive thru, parked my car in the parking lot for a nearby trail and read a book with the windows down enough that was i getting fresh air but i also wasn't freezing.

it felt good.

next time i will take a friend and they can sit in the back seat of the minivan because #socialdistancing and then i will feel even better because you guys, i'm a friendly soul and i do miss friends.

this led me to brainstorm ideas so that instead of waiting until i am depleted and laid out and generally being a drain on everyone else, i just go and do the things that bring me joy.

i made a list of things that bring me joy. then i made a list of things that bring me joy and i can do those things while quarantined (that list was shorter).

i would urge you to do the same.

items on my list:

-get outside
-learn something
-read a book
-write something
-talk to a friend
-the patio
-my ugliest sweater (pictured)
-garp the bunny (pictured)
-laughing
-boardgames with the children
